WHAT WE WANT
Prior to submission, if you are not familiar with Kane Miller, please invest some time on our website to determine if we’re the appropriate publisher for your work.
While the majority of our titles originate from publishers outside the US, we are always interested in great stories with engaging characters, especially the kinds that reflect our diverse world, as well as American subjects.
When writing about the experiences of a particular community, we will express a preference for stories written from a firsthand experience.
At this time, we are not considering holiday stories (in any age range) or self-published works.
WHAT TO SEND AND WHERE
Please read the following instructions thoroughly. They are intended to help us track and organize all submissions. We accept submissions via email and USPS.
EMAIL:
Please include all requested materials within the body of the email. Submissions that include attachments or links will not be considered.
Address your submission to “The Editors.”
Within the body of the email, please include:
short cover letter
complete manuscript, or synopsis and sample chapters
word count
professional bio (3-5 sentences)
While we accept simultaneous submissions, in the interest of time we appreciate knowing that we are not the only publisher you’ve approached.
Our books are aimed at children ages six months to young adults so choose your samples accordingly.
The main characters in our books are children. When submitting illustrations we need to see how you portray children, especially children's faces and children in action.
Illustrators only may send links to online portfolios to submissions@kanemiller.com. In the subject heading, include “Illustrator Submission.” For all other submission instructions, please see the above contributor guidelines.
Please do not send original artwork.
